On the afternoon of December 22nd, Cefalù was enveloped in the Magic of Christmas and went back in time with an event that combines history and medieval inspiration, dedicated to King Ruggero II and entitled “Alla corte del Re”, on the occasion of the date traditionally linked to his birth.
The Norman king, a key figure in the history of Cephaludese, was born on 22 December 1095 in Mileto, from the union between Ruggero I d’Altavilla and Adelasia del Vasto.
Inside the Magic Christmas in Cefalù program, this year the anniversary was celebrated with the long-awaited historical parade that transformed the streets of the center into a setting of times gone by. Musicians and flag-wavers from the Magistrate of the Piazza Armerina Neighborhoods, the Enna Medieval Workshop Group, and the Knights of the Valdemone di Pollina Association created an atmosphere full of charm and reenactment, with the participation of “Ruggero II” and “Elvira di Castiglia”.
The parade started at 6:00 pm from the Villa Comunale and ended in Piazza Duomo, in front of the majestic Cathedral Basilica, the symbol of the city and commissioned by Ruggero II in 1131.
