Earth Day Cefalù 2026

From April 22nd to 26th, Cefalù celebrates Earth Day, the largest international environmental event dedicated to Earth and its protection.

Five days of initiatives, meetings and activities to promote environmental preservation and awareness about the future of our planet.

Earth Day Cefalù, conceived and coordinated since 2013 by Francesca Mancinelli, city councilor for environmental policies, aims to promote not only the city’s tourist attractions but also offer initiatives to raise awareness of environmental issues.

22 APRIL – World Earth Day

• 09:30 – Conference: “L’acqua dalle Alte alle basse Madonie – La Rocca di Cefalù: la sorgente di Presidiana”, Teatro comunale S. Cicero, Via Spinuzza — organized by the Ordine Regionale dei Geologi di Sicilia and Lions Club Cefalù.
• 11:00 – Liberazione tartarughe “Caretta Caretta”, Piazza Colombo / Lungomare Giardina — with sports associations and WWF Sicilia Nord Occidentale.
• 17:00 – Festa di Primavera: travelling parade from Centro storico to Lungomare Giardina (starting from Piazza Diaz).
• 19:00 – Theatre show “Arabi di Sicilia”, Teatro comunale S. Cicero — with Libero Reina and the dance duo Athene Noctua.

23 APRIL – World Book Day

• 10:00 – Conference on energy saving and responsible consumption, Sala delle Capriate – Palazzo di Città, Piazza Duomo.
• 16:30 – Show “200 anni di Pinocchio: un burattino senza tempo”, Corte delle Stelle, Corso Ruggero.
• 17:30 – Book presentation “Chi vive d’amore – Il Cannoniere”, Sala delle Capriate – Palazzo di Città.
• 17:30 – Nature walk to Spiaggia di Settefrati (departure from Castello Bordonaro) — with Associazione Gea Nature Experience.
• 19:00 – Comedy show “Metti che rinasco”, Teatro comunale S. Cicero — with Sergio Vespertino.

24 APRIL – 3th day

• 09:30 – Beach clean-up “#StopMarineLitter” with Cefalù schools, Piazza Colombo / Lungomare Giardina.
• 10:00–13:00 – Visit and walk in Bosco di Guarneri, with tasting of local products.
• 16:45 – Guided hike in the local woods (meeting point at the viewpoint, Via del III Millennio).
• 19:00 – Concert with Daria Biancardi, Teatro comunale S. Cicero.

25 APRIL – 4th day

• 17:00 – Travelling show “Willy Wonka & Chocofriends” (stilt walkers and jugglers), Centro storico – Lungomare Giardina.
• 19:30 – Meeting with Giulia Innocenzi, interviewed by Barbara Politi (RAI), Teatro comunale S. Cicero.

26 APRIL – 5th day

• 09:00 – Beach clean-up in frazione di Sant’Ambrogio (meeting point: Belvedere).
• 09:30–12:30 / 15:30–18:30 – “Adotta un cucciolo” and animal welfare activities, Lungomare Giardina.
• 09:30 – Guided hike on Rocca di Cefalù and release of birds, Piazza Garibaldi — with CAI and LIPU.
• 15:00 – Opening of Sotto La Luna area and climbing activities for children and adults, Falesia San Calogero (CAI).
• 15:30–18:30 – La Tenuta Bordonaro apre le porte: visits, horse activities, animals, tastings and educational workshops, Villa Bordonaro.
• 18:30 – Theatre show “Like Kiribati – delirio finale”, Teatro comunale S. Cicero — “Marea – Moto continuo” festival.

Painting exhibition “NATURA: viaggio tra Sensi ed Emozioni”, Ottagono S. Caterina (until 28 April).
