Contemporary Theatre Festival 2026: Marea_moto continuo

Moto continuo is the second edition of the MAREA contemporary theatre festival, directed by Santi Cicardo and promoted by the Municipality of Cefalù.
Like the movement of the tide, which alternates advances and retreats, after an initial year of exploratory nature, MAREA _moto continuo 2026 returns, gathering suggestions, needs of the public encountered in the previous edition. A proposal that maintains its core: contemporary and auteur theatre,
The program presents six shows written and performed by important artists from the regional and national scene: from the poetic tale of Mille Rose, dedicated to Rosa Balistreri, to the historical and political reflections of Il rasoio di Occam; from the love and freedom stories of Le Mille Bolle Blu, to contemporary reinterpretations of the classics (Free Hamlet), up to the present climate crisis (Like Kiribati) and portraits of the great figures of our history (Archimedes. The solitude of a genius).
This proposal stems from a shared choice between the Artistic Directorate and the Municipal Administration, which recognize the theater of civic engagement as a privileged place for collective discussion and growth, where citizens can reflect, engage in dialogue, and question prejudices and beliefs, strengthening a sense of community.
A theatre grows thanks to two fundamental elements: actors and spect-actors.
MAREA _moto continuo wants to continue its journey in this direction, and be a space for relationships, listening, and participation for the Cefaluda community.

It starts on February 6, 2026 with Mille rose – Omaggio a Rosa Balistreri, written by and starring Lucia Sardo, one of the most intense actresses on the national scene. A show that intertwines words, singing, and live music, giving voice to female figures marked by prejudice and violence, and paying homage to Rosa Balistreri, one of Sicily’s deepest and most poignant voices.
